In the United States during the 1950s, wearing of blue jeans by teenagers and young adults became symbolic of mild protest against conformity. This was considered by some older adults as disruptive; for example, some movie theaters and restaurants refused to admit patrons who wore blue jeans. During the 1960s the wearing of blue jeans became more acceptable and by the 1970s had become general fashion in the United States, at least for informal wear. But ya gotta ask yourself, where in the world is a pair of blue jeans not acceptable?

What Day is Today?
Hayzzz..I count today as Thursday(of course) but it's only 2o'clock in the morning and my day is not really started yet but I am counting already. Why? because the following day is our payday and that would be my day off also. Again, I can't wait. I know you will agree with me that everyone is always looking on their days off. Because its quite relaxing when you get up in the morning and you don't have to worry getting ready for work and you can stay in bed whenever you wants especially this cold weather. Sometimes when I am tired, I wanna call in not to show up for work but I keep telling myself not to. Because once I don't show up for one day I don't like to go back to work the next day. And I don't want to miss any days on my job except if I have a reasonable excuse. Because when you get fired, you will start all over again looking for jobs but you're not sure if you'll get hire right away and if you find one from your field you can not guarantee that you can have the same benefits from your previous one. Because I believe that having a job is a privilege whether it pays good or not cause not everyone can find a job that quick especially the unemployment rate of this country for the past year and this year is getting higher. In other words, there are lots of applicants but there are no jobs that are available except when you are on a high demand field where every time is hiring.
~cheers~

Best Online Auto Parts and Accessories Store

I am one of many that likes to shop online. Other than saving time shopping online, it is also more convenient than going to the store falling in line and wasting gas. I hate to wait standing in line for that small item that I want to buy. So I prefer to shop online especially when I don't have to buy that many. Like for car parts, if you need some auto parts for your car and you don't have time to go to the store because of your busy schedule, you can shop it online at drivewire.com. They are selling discount car parts and auto accessories for you cars. Just browse their website and search for your car model and the kind of accessories you need. They are also selling ford auto parts since ford was one of the first major automakers here in the United States.

Stretch Marks Problems
For some people, treating stretch marks is not of major concern. Many mothers simply see it as a rite of passage when having a child the there will be stretch marks. For those women, stretch marks during pregnancy do not need to be treated, but some will want to get rid of them. For those who want try revitol stretch mark cream to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks on the skin. Just apply regularly in your skin as per instruction.

Taco Salad
The first time I ate "taco salad" was on Dec of 2005, I remembered the date because we were on Chicago with our friends that time, and we ate on one of the restaurants over there that serves taco. That time I don't really like it, but still I tried for pakikisama. On our way home, I don't feel good, my stomach was upset and one thing that came first on my mind was the "taco" that we ate at the restaurants so I told my hubby about it that its because of the taco and he said no and he even said "that was good how come", but I think its because of the sudden changed of the food cause havent ate that before and that time I was only 2 months in here so i was still adjusting on whatever food that I ate.
Anyway, its opposite now cause I love to eat taco salad now. Sometimes, we will make tacos' instead of buying at "taco bell" so we cam put more meat if we want to.
Well, if you love this kid of salad here's the recipe so you can make it at home
Ingredients
1/2 cup prepared salsa
1/4 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1 teaspoon canola oil
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound 93%-lean ground turkey
2 large plum tomatoes, diced
1 (14 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
8 cups shredded romaine lettuce
1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Cooking Directions
1.Combine salsa and sour cream in a large bowl.
2.Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 2 minutes. Add turkey and cook, stirring often and crumbling with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, beans, cumin and chili powder; cook, stirring, until the tomatoes begin to break down, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, stir in cilantro and 1/4 cup of the salsa mixture.
3.Add lettuce to the remaining salsa mixture in the bowl; toss to coat. To serve, divide the lettuce among 4 plates, top with the turkey mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
This is good for 4 servings
Enjoy!!

Understanding "Residents" Rights
Rights are things a person is entitled to. Residents, are individuals who have the same rights as me, as you, and as every one else, and we have to remember that. Residents has the right to be treated and respect and dignity. They have the right to continue their meaningful life even they are in the nursing home already, and they have the right to be free from fear. Residents has also the same legal rights as any other U.S. citizen here in America. They also have the right to vote, and not be discriminated against because of their age, sex, race, religion or disability.
Regardless of how their care is paid for, they have the same quality care that is given to every one else either they pay it by their own money or funded by Medicaid. As a nurse assistant, we are aware that violating the resident's rights is breaking the law and we know we can be punished by being fired , being fined or being sent to jail.
Here are some specific Residents' Bill of Rights
*Right to exercise one's rights
*Right to privacy and confidentiality
*Right to information
*Right to choose
*Right to notification of change
*Protection of residents' personal funds
*Grivance rights
*Transfer and discharge rights
*Right to be free from restraint and abuse
"I depend on you to keep me safe,
to respect me, and preserved my rights
and freedom"

Did I waste my money?
Oh well, this is it. Last Friday, as i posted here, I bought my own domain through blogger.com. I paid $10 for one year maintainance. But tonight as I write this I could not open my domain anymore which is http://www.retchels-online-buzz.net/ , it says the page was error. I keep trying but still error and it switched to the original one which is http://www.retchelonlinebuzz.blogspot.com/ which is hosted by blogspot. I remember that I clicked something in the settings button and could not retrieved it anymore. So I sent an email to google apps asking if there's a way I could access back my domain cause I was paying for that. It seems that I am just wasting my money. Yah, its only $10 but still a money. And now if I cannot recover my domain, I have to start all over again, to inform everyone who are in my friends list, good thing I don't have that many since this is a new blog. Anyway, hopefully google support team will get back to me as soon as they get my mail so I can start blog-hopping again using the blogspot one if ever I could not recover it...(hayy sigh)

Immigration vs Work
It has been almost 2 years since I was hired on the place where I work right now. When I was first hired, I used my working permit (EAD) card to prove that I can legally work here in United States . That time my working permit was valid for 1 year. But within that time I was processing my permanent residency. A month after, I got my greencard in the mail but I did not give to it to the Human Resource Department cause I figured that they have my record already. But earlier this month , the HR department updated the records of all employees, and they found out that my permit has been expired. So I got a call from them and I was
told to provide any unexpired card and they are talking about my alien card , so I told the lady from HR that I can give them my greencard so I went to their office to have it photocopied. When I look at my greencard I just realized that it will expire this coming august so it will be 7 months from now but I will give them my new card once renewed.
I wish this immigration stuff will be done so I don't have to think anymore. But once I got my 10 year green card I don't have to worry of anything maybe for long except if I want to apply my naturalization.
Anyway, that's all for today, just a little update about little stuff...

Let me talk about why people are admitted to a Long Term Facilities
Many of us think of why people are admitted in a Long Term facilities because they are sick, but not all of them are. There are many reasons why they enter long term care facilities. It depends on what facility that they are going to choose. Like for example if a person like move to an assisted living facility because their house is too big for them, their children also don't live with them anymore so they have to stay to an assisted living. In this situation, they prefer to live an assisted living facility because they are pretty much independent with a minimal support from the staff whenever they need them.
But if a person needs more support for nursing and medical support that affects their daily living, like bathing, eating and walking, and in this case they might be admitted to a long term care facility.
Others may mis-understood if families of the residents are not always with them, some will think that their families don't care for them anymore that's why they are in a nursing home, but for me that is wrong. And I believed that ,they are in the nursing home because it offers the kinds of care they need. You know what I mean, like bathing, eating on a right time, something like that and more. I know also, that not all of them like to stay in a nursing because of the big change of their environment but others do like especially when they meet friends with the same interest . There are also residents that don't have family anymore that are alive, others never been married, so obviously no children will take care of them, that's why it is best for them to live in a nursing home where they can find love and care from the people who works there.

Losing someone you care
.....is hard. Lately, in less than a month three residents passed away on the section where I work. On the weekend before Christmas, an hour after I left , one of the resident that I taking care of passed away, she was 95 years old and a very nice lady. Her memories still fresh in my mind especially when I walk in her room where she used to lived. She used to call me "kid" when she needs me for something. Everybody loves her cause she is very nice and sweet lady.
Sometimes it takes time to forget it but that is normal. There are family members that can not accept right away when they know that their love ones are on the stage of dying but some can .
Anyway so much for that, you might think I am weird why I am talking about death here. But that is true and sometimes it is hard to face the reality.

"I want to go home"
As we started our work until the end of our shift, we always hear residents saying " I want to go home" , and yes I can't blame them. Residents who has alzhemiers disease and related disorders are often wondering around. We have one resident in the unit where I work that after dinner she always says "Hey! can you help me? I wanna go home, my Dad is waiting for me" , she has a hearing impairment where she can hardly hear what we're saying, so we write on a piece of paper so she can read it saying " Your Dad just called a minute ago and he said you can stay here for tonight", and once she is told this she will calm down and say" Ah okay! so have you talk to him? ..As a care provider we are trying our best just to assure them that they are secure, safe and well protected in the place where they live.
The same resident, the same shift , she is wondering around and this time she's looking for her husband saying, "I have seen my husband a while ago, but he is not here anymore, I wonder where he's going?"but in reality he passed away many years ago, so our approach is to calm her down by telling her that , "Your husband is at work, he will be home shortly and you don't have to worry. Thats the humane way of doing things for them so they do not get upset and scared.

The Residents
In a nursing home, we call the people who lived there as residents instead of patients. They are the most important person in a nursing home, meaning we are not where we at right now if there is no residents. Same as in school, if there are no students, there are no teachers.
Others stayed in the building for so many years already and still live there since they could not taking care of themselves anymore and others are just moved in from their home by their families since their families don't have time to take care of them and they want to have a better care for their love ones.
