Recreational Burn Permit

Yesterday was an exciting day. Me and hubby did some yard work in the morning, burned some branches from neighbor's pine tree which their grand kids throw away in our yard. It was not a big fire, just smokey because we put some grass on the top of it and of course we were there and not unattended. So, I guess the other neighbor behind us was scared or maybe concern that our garage might caught on fire. We heard some sirens, we thought it was an ambulance since we live nearby the hospital. We were weeding when the police came, with 3 police vehicles and 3 fire trucks, can you imagine they really thought there was a fire. My hubby spoke to one of the officers and he was told that we have to have a permit to have a recreational burn since we live in the city limit. That was a warning for us, so no ticket was issued, since we don't know if we need to have a permit first and we've been burning since we moved in 2yrs ago and no one say anything. So, now we have a "recreational burn permit" which expires next month but can be renewed if we want to. One of the requirements of the permit is, the location shall not be less than 25 feet from any structure unless contained within a pit.
I still couldn't believed why the neighbor called the fire department instead of telling us first since they can see us there watching the little fire.

Proud Trubie

Guest Post written by Michelle Adams

I almost feel like I can breathe easy again now that “True Blood” is back on the air – almost. But those cliffhangers always leave me breathless.
I’m a huge fan, obviously, and am so excited that the third season is now on, complete with all new twists and turns in the plot. It seems that this season is going to be unpredictable like the two that came before it, but even for die-hard fans like me that have read all of the Charlaine Harris books the series is based on.

I didn’t start watching the show on Satellite television until its second season premiere. One of my friends kept telling me that I needed to watch it because I liked Twilight so much. So I gave in and sat down and watched all 12 episodes of the whole first season in about three days. I knew I was hooked.

In between the seasons I peruse fan message boards with myWiMAX Service to find spoilers and conspiracies. I also contribute quite a bit and am constantly comparing the story lines of the show and book series.

DVR Options

When we had satellite television, we had DVR for DIRECTV where we can record our favorite tv shows while we were away from home. That's a good thing of having DVR's , you don't have to worry about missing your shows because you have to work or you have plans to do for the day and that you can't watch your show. I am thinking of going back to my old provider because of that privileged. If you just moved to your new place like me, look for the best deals on the best television at in your area. Direct TV's options through also offers dish satellite TV Options with DVR for Time Warner Cable and DVR for Dish Network .

With Direct TV Satellite Television service, you will have great program channel options, picture and sound for an affordable price with minimal hassle.Right now, you can get 50% off for one year , you just pick your packages and pick your own price. They also offer 2 free upgrades for HD DVR & HD receiver. DVR for Direct TV has the ability to record two programs simultaneously until its full and that is up to you how long the program you want to store on the DVR. Recording on a DVR is the best options if you want to save time and money.

Storing Foods

I am wondering how many of us know how long we can store foods in the refrigerator or freezer. I think, most meat, can be stored in the refrigerator from 3-5 days. Frozen foods can be stored in the freezer indefinitely but the longer you store the food, the flavor also change, so it is best to follow the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration guidelines for safe storage.

The Statue of Liberty

My family recently visited Ellis Island. It was one of the most touching, moving experiences in our lives. After boarding the ferry, and watching Lady Liberty coming closer to us, as she continued to grow larger, it was great when we arrived to see her in person.

We received the Statue of Liberty from the people of France. It was given as a gift of friendship and represents a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Lady was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It became a national monument in 1924. It was restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986.

In order to enter any level of the statue each person needs to purchase a pedestal ticket. Anyone wishing to visit the crown must have a separate ticket and access is limited. If you want to visit the island and the statue you must first go through a security screening. Actually, this happens twice: once before boarding the ferry and another time before entering the monument.

Thousands of people visit the Statue of Liberty each day. It is a true symbol to Americans to our freedom and democracy. Seeing the lady makes you feel proud to be a citizen of our country. It also makes you feel safe knowing she is watching over our country - just as it made us feel safe knowing we had set our home alarm system before leaving home.

RACE Against Fire

For safety in the work place, everyone should know what RACE stands for. For us, who works in the nursing home, we have to learn what are the procedure to prevent fire. In case of fire, first thing you do is RESCUE, remove or rescue residents from danger and don't forget to close the doors behind you.ALARM, don't forget to pull the nearest fire alarm. Don't panic, execute your fire plan. CONFINE, Close residents room doors or evacuate as planned.Remember, do not use elevators, instead use the nearest stairways away from fire. Then EXTIGUISH, Extinguish if fire is small, or keep confined while waiting for the fire department to come.

Home Safety Is At The Top of Priorities

Protecting my home is at the top of priorities. Such a big investment should be taken serious, and every possible measure taken to ensure that your home and everything in it will remain safe and secure.

I decided that the current safety features on my home were not enough. I needed to have more to feel confident in the safety of my home. I looked at adt home alarm near Virginia Beachand decided that the best thing for me to do would to be getting a home security alarm system. Once this was in place I also thought about how great it would be for a Neighborhood Watch program in my neighborhood. With the neighbors from at least 5 blocks away, we began a Neighborhood Watch Program.

The program is really great. It leaves the satisfaction of knowing someone is looking and paying attention to the happenings in the neighborhood. If anyone notices suspicious looking individuals of even a disturbance at a nearby home, 9-1-1 will be called and police assistance to find out what is going on. A second set of eyes is always great!

I want a little Law & Order

At any given time that I’m awake and out of bed, there is an episode of "Law & Order" on TV. But I’m not complaining.

I’ve been following the series for as long as I can remember on DIRECTV, including a range of district attorneys, assistant attorneys, corrupt defense attorneys and detectives. However, I have to say that my favorite part of each episode is when the guest star, who is almost always a famous actor from another popular TV series or movie, is revealed as the perpetrator that’s been playing coy for the first 30 or 35 minutes of the show.

It hasn’t always been easy to get as much of the show as I want, which might put some people into a “Law & Order” coma, with some Cable Providers but I think I’m pretty satisfied now because I can watch a few solid hours of re-runs when I get home from work each day. I think I’ve seen almost every single episode, but if I haven’t I’m sure I will pretty soon since (sadly) the series is coming to an end soon.
