It's Yankee Time Again

Guest post from: Winston Stewart

It's October. Fall is setting in. You can feel summer leaving and the chill of fall. That must mean one thing. It's time of Yankee playoff baseball. Every year they seem to be in the pennant race. They always put together a great team that is a threat to win the World Series. They just won it all last year and look like the favorite to win it this year.
There is nothing like watching New York Yankee baseball. The storied history is just on thing that makes you feel part of something great. The other thing is that they are pretty good right now and you can tell your grandchildren how you watched a great team make its championship run.
I really love it when I'm watching it and the Yankees make a late inning rally and comeback for the win. I love the feeling of having our team steal the victory from opponents when defeat seemed so certain. My satellite tv from http://www.tvbydirect.com/directv-deal/OHIO-OH-direct-tv.html is always tuned in to Yankees baseball when they are playing. I can't get enough of it. And of course, October and the World Series is the best part of Yankees baseball.

Iron Man Costumes

Guest written by our friend Mason Abbott

I'm really looking forward to this upcoming Halloween as I'm going as my favorite superhero of all time. My brother and I always go as an ensemble and this year we are going trick or treating as Iron Man and War Machine. In the past, I've foregone Iron Man costumes because of the shoddy quality of the costumes. As a die hard fan, I just felt the quality of those costumes didn't do Iron Man justice.

Thanks to the Iron Man 2 movie, they've finally come out with a Halloween costume that really looks like an Iron Man suit. Of course with quality comes higher prices and I was a little taken aback by just how much each costume cost. I'm definitely going to try and get my money's worth and attend as many Halloween parties in costume as I possibly can. My little brother also wants to do a little trick or treating, so I'll probably take him around the neighborhood to pick up some candy. In exchange for getting to be Iron Man, I've agreed to give all of the candy I receive to him. Hopefully, I won't have be too tired after I get off of work at the grocery store that day. I'm definitely going to kick up my legs and watch some Direct tv TV after the night is finally done.

Nascar in California

Thanks for the article from Antone Medina

Heading out to Fontana, California for the Auto Club (California) Speedway has become a tradition for me and my family. Usually a bunch of my relatives from back east fly out here to Cali for an annual family barbeque. All of us have a good time barbequeing the day before and getting a good nights rest. The next day we pile up in some rented vans, set thehome security sytems and head out to Fontana for a day of racing. We usually sit at the grandstand and start our day there just behind it at the midway. There we go shopping for nick knacks at the retail stores and catch a show at the entertainment stage before heading off to the Wolfgang Puck restaurant for some lunch grubbing. Afterward, we chill in the shade and lounge area letting our food digest, before heading out to catch the end of the races. I love the smell of car engines and asphalt that permeate throughout the race track. You get to see all the action from the racing around in circles, the crashes and the pit stops - nothing beats that adrenaline rush you get watching cars whip around at over 200 mph. The 4 turns that this speedway features makes it even more exciting. I seriously cannot wait till the next time we head out for a day of racing and fun!

Landscaping In The Fall

Contributed by Alec Bates

Most people feel as though they have to landscape in the spring. This is supposedly the best time to get your home looking immaculate for late spring, summer, and possibly fall. But the spring season is often too late to get your lawn and home to look the best it possibly can. Plus, the weather in the spring is extremely erratic. One day it's freezing, the next day it's raining, and the next day it's gorgeous. You can't establish any type of continuity in these conditions. That's why I like to do the majority of my landscaping in the fall. The temperature is perfect and it's an opportunity to get a head start on the neighbors. Not only is it the perfect time to seed and aerate the lawn, but it's perfect for pulling weeds, building anything new, cleaning out the garage, and more. For example, this fall I'm going to put new wood chips around our two front trees. My wife says this makes no sense, but it makes perfect sense to me. We live in South Carolina. Our lawn is going to be covered in snow over the winter. I want to make it look as good as possible now. That will mean less work in the spring, which is when we like to travel. If a rainy day happens to come along over a weekend in the fall, no sweat, I look at it as a reward to relax and watch satellite tv from www.tvbydirect.com/directv-deals.html all day.

Leaves Crafts

Guest post written by Danielle Stamper

I'm always coming up with new kinds of projects and crafts to do. But even I run out of ideas sometimes, just no matter how creative I am. So I'm always looking for inspiration elsewhere.

Right now I'm trying to come up with some seasonal stuff that will be great for right now. But I'm also wanting to come up with some ideas for Christmas to give to people and also to decorate my own apartment with.

I got an idea from a craft blog that i found with my direct tv internet to melt down some crayons and then use cookie cutters to cut out cute shapes with them. I saw it done in the shape of leaves, but I think that I'm going to melt some other ones down and make some snowflake and snow men ones for Christmas tree ornaments. I just think that ornaments are so much cooler when theyÕre homemade and have a nice personal touch to them. If that doesnÕt work I just might hang the shapes up in the window though.

Rescued Chile Miners

After spending 69 days underground after the mine collapsed, the 25 Chile Miners (as of this writing) has been rescued out of 33 miners total.
" The rescue was planned with extreme care. The miners were monitored by video on the way up for any sign of panic. They had oxygen masks, dark glasses to protect their eyes from unfamiliar light and sweaters for the jarring transition from subterranean swelter to chilly desert air."

The first man out was Florencio Avalos, who emerged from the missile-like chamber and hugged his sobbing 7-year-old son, his wife and the Chilean president.

I have been following of this news. Hopefully the remaining miners underground will be rescued soon without any problems.

Curb Appeal

Posted by Winford Tillman

HGTV's Curb Appeal is a classic real estate based reality TV show. I watch it every chance I get on satellite TV from www.tvbydirect.com/directv-deal/NEW-YORK-NY-direct-tv.html. I swear it's the best show ever! Every week the crew finds a place that looks blander than bland on the outside and spruce it up with some crafty designing and landscaping. The demolition is wicked cool and I love the designs. I'm a design major myself and I can tell these guys are really good! Plus they even get the house owners to help with the renovation! I love that because it gives them a chance to explain things in layman's terms step by step while throwing in some tips from their years of experience.

Curb Appeal features 4 hosts, actor Dan Schachner, Rick Spence, Bill Duggan and Sasha Andreev. Rick's my fave, he really makes the show fun. Love how they continuously interview the owners because the reactions after the demolition is priceless and it's always funny when one of them isn't exactly feeling the new look. They say all the right things, but their apprehension is written all over their face. Another thing is that they interview neighbors and get their impressions on the before and after. I'm always surprised by what they come up with and enjoy all the ideas they give to solve different types of landscaping problems.

Staying Active

Guest post written by Clarice Hairsey

I'm a firm believer in staying active. You're only as old as you feel, and even though I'm 68, I'd swear I'm not a day over 45. At least, that's what my body says. I've made a concerted effort to keep active even though I'm retired, so I can keep up with my grandkids, the little rascals. So what I do is take a stroll around Central Park every day.

What's the point of having this great big park in the middle of the city if you don't go enjoy it? I think the city-planners thought the same thing, because they put in the most gorgeous walking paths. My favorite goes right by the paddleboat lake, since it's great to be by the water. Since I've been doing this walking more avidly these days, I'm thinking about investing in miracle ear hearing aids.

My sister recently got them and swears by them, so I'm thinking about giving them a spin so I can enjoy my walks even more. I think tomorrow I'll swap the routine, though, and going down to battery park at the very tip of the island. It's beautiful there--you can see the Statue of Liberty and everything. It's good to be a New Yorker.

Going to Michigan Football Game

Guest post written by Arnoldo Acevedo

Going to a Michigan football game is one of the greatest football experiences that a person can have. It is a treat to go watch the Maize and Blue play in the largest football stadium in the country.

The Big House is just that. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Big House holds over 110,000 people every time the Wolverines play there. It has been just newly renovated to make it the largest football stadium in the country, college or pro. Even if you cant make the trip there its always great to watch the game on your tv from www.directstartv.com/directv/directv_faq.html.

The head coach, Rich Rodriguez, is in his third year of leading the Wolverines. They have a dynamic player in quarterback Denard Robinson, who is a sophmore. Denard is the most exciting college football player in the country by running over 100 yards and throwing for over 100 yards in each of the three games he has played in this year. He is the leading candidate at this time for the Heisman trophy.

The Wolverines gear at the concessions stand is incredible. No where in the country can you get a selection of Wolverine football gear than right at the Big House. Going to the games is great fun when you go with a friend, and even more fun, with a group of friends to share in one of the greatest sporting events in the country, Michigan football.

College Football Season Is Amazing

Guest post written by Mikel Trevino

I love almost every sport, but college football is one that I just cannot get enough of. I prefer to see the game in person, but like most fans, that is just not always possible. It would be great if I could buy a big RV and travel around seeing my team, the Tennessee Volunteers, in person at every game, but until I retire it just isn't an option.

When I can't see the game in person, I watch it on satellite TV from www.expertsatellite.com/directv-vs-cable.html, because I have more coverage than any other type of television. I will say that one of the things I like about college football may surprise people. It's not just the game, the talent, the trick plays or the college atmosphere.

I love the stadiums. Watching the game played on a clear day, either in the late summer or into the Fall, is just amazing. It makes me feel like I'm actually out there, watching the game in person and enjoying the sun and weather. Even the cold games are great, it takes me back to when I was younger and my dad would take me to football games. I don't know if it has the same effect on other fans, but for me, it's like getting to see my dad every weekend.

Of course, I love the games, too, especially when an upstart team wins.

New Tire Chains

In couple months winter will be here. Not many of us like winter season, because most of us hates snow especially if you live in winter wonderland. Last year was my first time driving in the snow and I hated it. I wish all year long is summer. Driving on ice and snow can be difficult because of the lose of traction. But if your car tires have tire chains it is easier to be controlled. It helps hold your tires from losing its traction. Tire Chains is available for passenger vehicles, truck & commercial vehicles. It is also available for tractors and equipment.

You can purchase these tire chains at Easy Trekking. They offer products from the manufacturer of the best chains in the world. All Pewag models of tire chains are made either out of Nickel Manganese or Nickel Manganese Alloy.Another nice thing about the Pewag brand is that they are not cheap steel alloy chains from the highly polluting factories of China
